Moses speaking: The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Break camp and advance into the hill country... ... See, I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land that the Lord swore He would give to your fathers—-to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—-and to their descendants after them.” Deuteronomy 1:6-8
Moses speaking: Do not be terrified; do not be afraid of them. The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as He did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, and in the desert. There you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place. Deuteronomy 1:29-31
Be bold! Be brave! Break camp and advance! Moses reminds the people then, and us today, that the Lord God is going before us. He fights for us. He carries us. He leads and shows us. God gave the Promised Land to the people. Jesus gave His life on the cross for us. He has promised the victory. It is certain. Just as the Israelites responsibility was to rise up in obedience and take possession of the Promised Land, our responsibility is to rise up in faith and take possession of all God promises. Rise up in faith and take possession of our life in Christ! Deuteronomy 2:7 assures us that the Lord God blesses us in the work of our hands, watches over us on our journey, and is with us so that we lack nothing! In Christ we have all we need...we lack nothing! So let us break camp and advance!
