Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. -I Chronicles 16:10
Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and joy in His dwelling place. -I Chronicles 16:27
Worship actively resonates with passion and vitality. David’s Psalm of Thanksgiving to God upon successfully bringing the Ark to Jerusalem is a perfect example of worshiping God with energy and zeal. Since David’s first attempt to move the Ark failed miserably, this time David followed God’s exact instructions. And joy resulted!
Verbs, action words, abound in praise and thanksgiving. Give thanks to God. Call on His name. Make known God’s deeds. Sing His praise. Tell. Look. Seek His face. Glory, revel, in Him. Proclaim, declare. Fear Him, tremble before HIm. Rejoice. Cry out. Remember His wonders, miracles, judgments.
Rejoice in God’s character and deeds. God is holy. Strong. Lord. Judge. True to His covenant forever. Savior. Great and worthy of praise. Fearful. Maker and Creator. Splendid, Majestic. Eternal King. Good. Enduring Love. Deliverer.
Even all nature rejoices and worships Creator God. The heavens and earth. The sea and all that is within. The fields and everything in them. The trees of the forest sing before the Lord, clapping their hands in the breeze and wind.
Is it any wonder that our hearts will rejoice when we glory in His holy name? Strength and joy are in God. Strength and joy are in God’s dwelling place. And as if we need one more cause to rejoice, consider that we are now God’s dwelling place! At our conversion, God graciously sends His Holy Spirit to reside within us. The God of the whole universe lives within, and without, giving us power to live for Him, to become more and more like Jesus. Rejoice, give heartfelt thanks and sing!
