Dancing Feet

from Lynda Lindsey

Sing to the Lord, you saints of His; praise His holy name. For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. Psalm 30:4-5

You turned my wailing into dancing; You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give You thanks forever. Psalm 30:11-12

The Lord to Solomon:I have heard the prayer and plea you have made before Me; I have consecrated this temple, which you have built, by putting My Name there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there. I Kings 9:3

Strutting in pride. Trusting in wealth. Confident in self-achievement. Fame. Power. Yet, at some point all our golden success turns to brass. Every false thing we’ve trusted in vanishes, disappearing like the morning mist. Then, darkness. Sorrow. A grave. A pit. Gloating enemies. Overwhelmed by sin, we call out, cry aloud to God, for His help.

Merciful God. His eyes and heart are upon us. God, in His infinite mercy lifts us out of the deep. He spares our life. He heals our brokenness. Our enemies do not have the last word. We may endure His chastisement. We may endure His discipline. We bear the consequences of our sin. But God’s discipline, God’s just and righteous anger at sin, is momentary, compared with an eternity spent in His glorious presence. So, repent. Cry aloud for God’s forgiveness.

Because He in no wise casts out any who come to Him, accept His pardon. As forgiven, restored, back-in-right-relationship-to-God people, rejoice! Exalt God! Shout and sing His praises! The dark night is over. Dawn has broken, and with the Light, rejoicing comes! He has turned our wailing into dancing. He has removed our sackcloth and clothed us with garments of joy and praise! Our hearts sing God’s praise forever, for we can no longer remain silent! Hear the music? Dance, feet, dance!
