Title: Citizens in Christ
Text: Matthew 22:40; Ephesians 2:19-21
Thought for the Day:
Jesus indicates at the close of of this passage in Matthew that all the Law and the Prophets, in other words, all of what we know as the Old Testament, depend on the two commandments to love God and love neighbor. In essence, these two commandments summarize the Ten Commandments found in Exodus 20.
In Ephesians 2, the Apostle Paul instructs that the church, the household of God, is built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, which is the foundation of Scripture. And what is the foundation of this foundation? It’s the love of God and the love of neighbor. When we and our churches are built on this foundation, we become fellow citizens with the people of God, the house of God that is being built, with Jesus Himself as the cornerstone.
Pray through this Thought for the Day as the Spirit leads you in your heart and in your mind. Amen
