Hungry? Thirsty? Empty Pockets?

From Lynda Lindsey

Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; hear me that your soul may live. Isaiah 55:1-3(a)

Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him, and to our God, for He will freely pardon. Isaiah 55:6-7

So is My word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11

Are you hungry? Thirsty? Are your pockets empty? Has your money been leached away in futile attempts to satisfy your hunger and thirst with unsatisfying, cheap junk food? No matter, come! Come! God has prepared a sumptuous table, appointed only for those who hunger and thirst after Him; even those with money cannot buy their way into this banquet! Listen, really listen attentively to God and come to His banquet. This listening involves humility; bending low so as to hear God’s quiet whisper. Feasting on all God’s richest fare ensures delight in our innermost being; we revive and are satisfied.

God seeks us; He strains to hear our voice in response to His call. Forsake death; seek life. Come! Call on God. He is near! God’s mercy and pardon await. Again, even those with money cannot buy this pardon; Jesus already paid the price on Calvary’s hill. Repent. Turn to the Lord. His face is glorious. Delight yourself in Him and experience life, not mere existence. Revive and be satisfied.

His ways aren’t ours; His ways and thoughts are higher than ours. Hallelujah! Would we really want a God who muddled through life, trying first one thing and then another in an attempt to find His way? Indeed not! As the rain and the snow coming down from heaven water the earth, making it flourish, so does God’s word proceed from His mouth, accomplishing His desire, achieving the purpose for which He sent it. He is God. There is no other. He achieves His purposes. What results when we align ourselves with Him? We will go out in joy and be led forth in peace! Mountains, hills, trees, all will burst forth in praise! Fruitfulness, not barrenness results. Come! Come! All who hunger and thirst for righteousness, come! Satisfaction is guaranteed! Come!
