For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be glory forever. Amen. I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Romans 11:36-Romans 12:1
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. Romans 12:2-3
Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. Romans 13:11
By God’s grace and mercy we’ve been made new in Christ! The old has passed away. We’re made new from the inside out, our minds and hearts transformed. Set free from the power of sin, no longer constrained to walk in sinful, selfish ways, we are granted new life, not to squander selfishly, but to give away by serving Christ and furthering His kingdom. Once we’ve tasted the Lord’s goodness, experienced His transforming power, and walked in and by His grace, we understand the privilege of worshiping God and living for His glory!
God not only gives us everything we need for life and spiritual health, He also blesses us with special gifts with which to serve Him. By serving others we serve and honor God. Just as we live by faith in the Son of God, we exercise our gifts by faith, in humility, and with sound reasoning and sober judgment. Our opinion of ourselves should match God’s opinion of us, which will keep us from either overvaluing or undervaluing ourselves. Different people, different gifts, all to be used for God’s glory for the building up of the body of Christ to maturity.
Salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed; the hour is come. Wake up, grow up, make Jesus known. Serve zealously, cheerfully, lovingly, fervently. Abhor all evil; embrace all good. Rejoice in hope, be patient in persecution. Pray constantly. Be hospitable. Put others first. Think, and act on, what is honorable, good, and right. Be kind to everyone, especially your enemy. Help the downtrodden, be subject to the governing authorities, love others as you love yourself. Live as children of the light, by God’s grace, for His glory! Rejoice!
