Choose, Remember and Stand Firm

from Lynda Lindsey

I have made, and I will bear, I will carry and will save. … Remember this and stand firm, recall it to mind, you transgressors, remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all My purpose.’ Isaiah 46:4(b); 8-10

I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it. “Listen to Me, you stubborn of heart, you who are far from righteousness: I bring near My righteousness; it is not far off, and My salvation will not delay; I will put salvation in Zion, for Israel My glory.” Isaiah 46:11(b)-13

I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go. Oh that you had paid attention to My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.  Isaiah 48:17(b)-18

God, a God of righteousness and truth, is grieved by our sinful, stubborn hearts and our disobedience. Knowing full well our need for a Savior, God invites, but doesn’t coerce, “Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.” In the Lord is righteousness and strength; in man, apart from God, there is unrighteousness and powerlessness. We are powerless to save ourselves; relying on anything other than God, profits us nothing and blinds us to truth. God carries and saves us, not our idols or our false ideologies, no matter how plausible they sound.

The only way to be saved is to stop rebelling against God and turn to Him, the One to whom every knee shall bow and every tongue shall swear allegiance. As a result we are forgiven, remade, recreated, led, taught, and guided by the Holy Spirit. As rivers flow with life giving water and the waves of the sea endlessly move, so shall be our peace and righteousness. Joyously recall, remember, and rehearse God’s miraculous deeds, for God made and created everything; He is God and there is none other. He will accomplish His every purpose. Remember God and stand firm.

God used Cyrus as a deliverer, but our ultimate Deliverer is Christ. God brings His righteousness to the unrighteous; His salvation is near, not far away. Lay aside arrogance and pride in favor of humility and submission. Submit to God’s refinement in the furnace of affliction; while painful in the moment, it leads to eternal glory. Choose freedom over bondage. Choose the living Christ over dead idols. Choose God, not man, for salvation. Choose real righteousness, not the appearance of righteousness.  Choose eternal glory, not temporary, worldly appeasement. Choose and stand firm!
